Student Safety & Well-being

Physical Safety and Emergency Preparedness

  • Emergency Training: School personnel undergo annual training on the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and emergency procedures. Students at the Adventist school have even participated in CPR and First Aid certification programs to be better prepared for emergencies in their rural setting.

  • Supervision: To ensure student safety during arrival, school doors open at 7:45 AM, and the school emphasizes that students should not be dropped off earlier as there is no staff for supervision.

  • Secure Campus: The school maintains strict attendance and check-out policies. Students are not permitted to leave the building during the day without being signed out at the office by a parent or guardian.

Emotional and Behavioral Wellbeing

  • Positive Behavior Support: The school utilizes a Positive Student Behavior Matrix to foster a safe and respectful school climate. This includes proactive strategies for bullying prevention and teaching students how to respond to peer conflict.

  • Mental Health Resources: The school provides resources for families on critical topics like suicide prevention, child abuse and neglect, and managing school-related stress. They encourage a "see something, say something" culture where students and parents can report concerns directly to school administrators.

  • Inclusive Environment: As a public institution, Trout Creek School District #6 strictly follows Title IX and non-discrimination policies to ensure all students, regardless of background or disability, are protected and supported.

Health and Wellness

  • Healthy Habits: The school integrates wellness into the daily routine, including Cafeteria Services that meet nutritional standards and physical education classes designed to promote a healthy lifestyle.

  • Illness Protocols: To protect the broader student body, the school provides clear guidelines on when a student should stay home due to illness and requires doctor's notes for excused medical absences.
