Library & Media Resources

Digital Reading & Audiobooks

  • Montana Library2Go (Libby App): This is a cornerstone for Montana schools, providing a massive collection of nearly 30,000 downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines. It is accessible on computers or mobile devices using the Libby app.

  • Montana School Library Shared Digital Collection: Schools specifically use this shared collection (often via the Sora app) to give students access to curated, age-appropriate digital books.

  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library: For families with younger children (birth to age five), this program sends one free book every month directly to their home to foster early literacy.

Educational Video & Media

  • PBS LearningMedia: Montana PBS offers a huge library of free, standards-aligned videos, interactives, and lesson plans for K-12 students.

  • Kanopy: Often available through local public libraries, this streaming service provides access to thousands of documentaries and educational videos, including a dedicated Kanopy Kids section.

Research & Curriculum Support

  • Montana History Portal: A free digital archive of Montana’s cultural heritage, featuring historical maps, photos, and documents that are perfect for local history projects.

  • Explora & Gale Databases: These are powerful, free-to-use research tools that help students find reliable articles from magazines and reference books. Explora has specific versions tailored for both primary and secondary students.

  • Educate Station: Used by many local libraries, this provides full curricula for grades Pre-K through 5th grade, including printable learning plans for math, science, and social studies.
